Data Availability
Applied Information System and Management (AISM) supports open, transparent, and reproducible research. Readers should be able to understand how the results of an article were obtained and, where possible, verify or build on them. This policy sets out what authors share, how they report it, and how ethics, personal data, confidentiality, and intellectual property are protected.
Principle
Authors make the data, code, methods, research instruments, and other materials that support the findings of their article available to the extent possible, consistent with ethical approval, participant consent, personal data protection, confidentiality agreements, and intellectual property rights. Where materials cannot be shared, the reason is stated openly.
What Should Be Shared
| Type of study | Materials expected |
| Surveys and questionnaires | The questionnaire items and measurement scales, the anonymized response data where consent allows, and the analysis output (for example, SEM-PLS or regression results). |
| Interviews, case studies, and qualitative research | The interview protocol, coding scheme, and anonymized excerpts or summaries. Full transcripts and organizational documents are usually restricted and are described rather than shared. |
| System development and design science | The requirements, models (for example, UML, BPMN, or architecture diagrams), evaluation instruments and results, and source code or a demonstration where possible. |
| Machine learning and data analytics | The dataset or its public source, preprocessing steps, model settings and hyperparameters, software and library versions, and the code used to produce the results. |
| IT governance and framework assessments | The assessment instrument, scoring criteria, and aggregated results (for example, capability levels per process). |
| Literature reviews and bibliometrics | The search strings, databases, dates of search, inclusion and exclusion criteria, screening records (for example, a PRISMA diagram), and the list of included studies. |
Data Availability Statement
Every article published in AISM includes a Data Availability Statement in the declarations section before the References. Authors choose the statement that applies:
| Openly available | "The data and code that support the findings of this study are openly available in [repository name] at [DOI or persistent link]." |
| Included in the article | "All data generated or analysed during this study are included in this article and its supplementary files." |
| Available on request | "The data that support the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request. The data are not publicly available because [reason, e.g., they contain information that could compromise the privacy of research participants]." |
| Restricted | "The data were obtained from [organization] under a confidentiality agreement and are not publicly available. Aggregated results are reported in the article." |
| Third-party data | "This study used publicly available data from [source], available at [link], accessed on [date]." |
| Not applicable | "Data sharing is not applicable to this article because no new data were created or analysed in this study." |
Where to Deposit
Authors are encouraged to deposit data and code in a trusted repository that assigns a persistent identifier such as a DOI, for example:
- Zenodo, Figshare, or Mendeley Data for datasets and supplementary files;
- Repositori Ilmiah Nasional (RIN) managed by BRIN for research data from Indonesia;
- GitHub or GitLab for source code, preferably archived with a DOI through Zenodo; and
- the authors' institutional repository.
Datasets and software used or produced in the study are cited in the reference list, including the repository, version, and DOI or link. Questionnaires, protocols, and other short instruments may be submitted as supplementary files through the online system and are published with the article.
Ethics, Personal Data, and Confidentiality
- Data from human participants are shared only if the participants gave consent and the ethics approval allows it, and only after removing names, contact details, and any other information that could identify a person.
- Personal data are handled in accordance with Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection and the regulations that apply in the country where the data were collected.
- Data obtained from companies, government agencies, or other organizations under confidentiality agreements are not shared, but the type of data and the reason for the restriction are stated.
- Source code or systems that are subject to intellectual property rights or commercial licences may be restricted. Authors then describe the system and methods in enough detail for the study to be understood and evaluated.
- Research ethics requirements are set out in the Publication Ethics policy.
Reproducibility in the Article
Independently of data sharing, the Research Method section describes the design, data sources, sampling, instruments, procedures, software and versions, parameters, and analysis techniques in enough detail for other researchers to repeat the study, as required by the Author Guidelines.
During Review and After Publication
- Editors and reviewers may ask to see the underlying data, code, or instruments during peer review. These are treated as confidential.
- Datasets deposited in external repositories are not formally peer reviewed by AISM. The authors remain responsible for their accuracy and quality.
- Authors who state that data are available on request respond to reasonable requests from readers within a reasonable time.
- Concerns that data were fabricated, falsified, or misrepresented, or that the Data Availability Statement is false, are handled under the Research Misconduct policy.
