AUTHOR GUIDELINES

Author Guidelines

Applied Information System and Management (AISM) is the scientific publication of the Department of Information Systems, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, in collaboration with the Communication Forum of Indonesian Scientific Journal Managers (Forum Komunikasi Pengelola Jurnal Ilmiah Indonesia, PJII). These author guidelines are prepared to help authors structure, format, and submit manuscripts according to the editorial and publication standards of AISM.

General Guidelines

  • The submitted manuscript has not been previously published and is not under consideration by another journal.
  • Authors must use the AISM manuscript template as the main reference for preparing the article.
  • Manuscripts submitted to AISM must be written in English and must address topics within Information Systems and Information Systems Management.
  • AISM does not accept manuscript submissions by email. All submissions must be made through the official journal website.
  • The manuscript length is expected not to exceed 12 pages, including tables, figures, and references.
  • The manuscript is recommended to follow this structure: Introduction, Literature Review or Related Work, Research Methods, Results and Discussion, and Conclusion.
  • The manuscript should preferably use at least 15 references, with at least 75% published within the last five years and taken from reputable journals, preferably Scopus-indexed journals.
  • All illustrations, figures, and tables must be placed within the text at the appropriate points and must be cited in the manuscript.
  • Authors must read and agree to the publication ethics statement, copyright notice, and author agreement before submitting the manuscript.
  • Every manuscript submitted to AISM is reviewed through a double-blind peer review system.
  • The manuscript will be checked using Turnitin. The similarity result must be less than 20%, and AI detection must be less than 30%.
  • Authors are required to use reference management software, such as Mendeley, EndNote, or Zotero, using IEEE citation style.

How to Submit Your Manuscript

  1. Register and login to the journal website.
  2. Create a user account and make sure that the account is registered as an author.
  3. Login to the journal website and complete the author profile, including affiliation, country, and email address.
  4. Start the submission process through the Start a New Submission menu.
  5. Follow the five submission stages: Start, Upload Submission, Enter Metadata, Upload Supplementary Files, and Confirmation.
  6. Ensure that all metadata, author names, affiliations, abstract, keywords, and references are entered correctly before confirming the submission.

Main Part

  • Introduction: explains the research background, problem, urgency, research gap, novelty, objective, and contribution.
  • Related Work: reviews and synthesizes relevant studies, theories, methods, models, or technologies related to the topic.
  • Research Method: describes the research design, object or dataset, instruments, procedures, system development stages if relevant, and analysis technique.
  • Results and Discussion: presents findings clearly and discusses their meaning, contribution, implications, and relation to previous studies.
  • Conclusion: answers the research objective and summarizes findings, contribution, limitations, and recommendations.

Closing Part

  • Acknowledgment: optional statement for recognizing institutional, technical, or funding support.
  • Conflict of Interest: optional or required when relevant, declaring whether the authors have competing interests.
  • Data Availability: optional when the study uses datasets, software, codes, or supplementary materials.
  • References: includes only cited sources and must follow IEEE citation style.

Writing Guidelines

Title

The title should be concise, clear, informative, and specific. It should reflect the main object, method, or contribution of the study. The recommended length is around 10 to 15 words. Avoid overly general titles, unexplained abbreviations, and promotional expressions.

Author Name

AISM accepts manuscripts with a maximum of six authors. Author names must be written without academic titles. Each author must provide a clear institutional affiliation, and all author metadata must be entered correctly during the submission process.

Abstract

The abstract should be written in one paragraph of around 150 to 200 words. It should briefly present the background, objective, method, main findings, and significance of the study. The abstract should not contain citations, tables, figures, or undefined abbreviations.

Keywords

Authors should provide three to five keywords that represent the core concepts, methods, objects, or application areas of the study. Keywords should support indexing and discoverability. Avoid terms that are too broad or not directly related to the manuscript.

Introduction

The introduction should explain the research background, practical or theoretical problem, urgency, research gap, novelty, objective, and contribution. It should be supported by relevant and recent references. The final part may briefly explain the direction or structure of the article.

Related Work

The related work section should present relevant previous studies, concepts, theories, models, methods, or technologies. This section should not only summarize prior studies, but also compare and synthesize them to show the position and novelty of the current study.

Research Method

This section should describe the research design, object or dataset, population and sample if applicable, data collection procedure, instruments, variables, system development stages if relevant, evaluation method, and data analysis technique. The method must be written clearly enough to allow replication by other researchers.

Results and Discussion

This section should present the findings systematically using clear explanation, tables, figures, models, or screenshots where necessary. The discussion should interpret the findings, compare them with previous studies, explain their implications, and show how they answer the research objectives.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures must be readable, numbered, titled, and cited in the text. They should directly support the analysis. Tables are recommended for structured data, while figures are recommended for models, frameworks, system architecture, workflows, or visual results.

Conclusion

The conclusion should answer the research objective and present the main findings concisely. It may include the contribution, practical or theoretical implications, limitations, and recommendations for future research. The conclusion should not introduce new data or repeat the abstract.

References

References must include only sources cited in the manuscript. Authors are required to use reference management software, such as Mendeley, EndNote, or Zotero. The citation and reference style used by AISM is IEEE. Authors are encouraged to use at least 15 references, with at least 75% published within the last five years and preferably taken from reputable journals.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to ensure that their submission complies with the following items.

  • The manuscript has not been published previously and is not under review by another journal.
  • The manuscript file follows the AISM template and has been written in English.
  • The manuscript follows the recommended article structure.
  • The title, abstract, keywords, author names, affiliations, and references are complete.
