PUBLICATION ETHICS

Publication Ethics

Applied Information System and Management (AISM) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the Department of Information Systems, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Indonesia, in collaboration with the Communication Forum of Indonesian Scientific Journal Managers (Forum Komunikasi Pengelola Jurnal Ilmiah Indonesia, Forkom PJII).

This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, the editor in chief, editorial board members, peer reviewers, and the publisher. This statement is based on COPE's Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors. Accordingly, this journal follows the COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and the Code of Practices for Journal Publishers.

Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication

The publication of an article in peer-reviewed AISM is an essential building block in developing a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It directly reflects the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. Therefore, all parties involved in publishing, including authors, journal editors, peer reviewers, publishers, and society, must agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior.

The Department of Information Systems, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, as the publisher of AISM, takes its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing seriously and recognizes its ethical responsibilities. The journal is committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint, or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions.

In essence, the publication of AISM adheres to the Regulation of the Head of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) No. 5 of 2014 concerning Publication Ethics, which is substantially in line with the core practices developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). These principles promote integrity in scientific research and publication and make ethical practices a defining character of publishing culture.

In managing its publication, AISM firmly upholds three fundamental ethical principles:

1. Neutrality
Free from any forms of conflicts of interest.
2. Fairness
Providing equal authorship opportunities based on academic merit and competence.
3. Integrity
Free from duplication, falsification, and plagiarism.

This publication ethics applies to all parties involved in the journal publication process, including authors, editorial board members, reviewers, and the publisher.

Publication Decisions

The editor of AISM is responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published. The validation of the work and its importance to researchers and readers must always guide such decisions. The editors may be guided by the journal's editorial board policies and constrained by legal requirements concerning libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. The editors may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Fair Play

An editor evaluates manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality

The editor and editorial staff must not disclose information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.

Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards

Authors of original research reports should present an accurate account of the work performed and an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works. If they use the work or words of others, these must be appropriately cited or quoted.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

An author should not publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently is unethical and unacceptable.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Proper acknowledgement of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. The corresponding author must ensure that all appropriate co-authors are included, that no inappropriate co-authors are listed, and that all co-authors have approved the final version of the paper.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All authors should disclose any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should also be disclosed.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their own published work, it is the author's obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
