Ownership and Management

1. Institutional Ownership and Publishing Organization

Jurnal Indo-Islamika is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal published and institutionally administered by the Graduate School (Sekolah Pascasarjana), Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Indonesia.

The Graduate School serves as the journal's institutional publishing body, supporting the continuity of scholarly publication, academic dissemination, and journal administration. The journal provides an interdisciplinary platform for research on contextualized Islam, Islamic thought, lived religion, and Muslim societies in Indonesia and beyond.

The journal was established in 2000 and has utilized the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform since 2013 to facilitate electronic manuscript submission, editorial processing, publication management, and access to scholarly content.

As the institutional publisher, the Graduate School supports the journal's academic mission and provides the institutional framework within which its editorial activities are conducted.

2. Editorial Management and Organizational Structure

The editorial management of Jurnal Indo-Islamika is undertaken by an academic editorial team comprising an Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor, Editors, International Editorial Board, and Assistant Editors.

The journal's editorial leadership consists of:

Editor-in-Chief: Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Indonesia.

Managing Editor: Prof. JM Muslimin, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Indonesia.

The journal also involves national and international scholars representing various universities and research institutions. Their participation supports the development of interdisciplinary scholarship, international academic engagement, and scholarly evaluation.

Editorial management encompasses the following principal responsibilities:

  • Editor-in-Chief: Providing overall academic and editorial leadership, overseeing publication standards, and supervising editorial decision-making.

  • Managing Editor: Coordinating editorial workflows, manuscript handling, communication, and the implementation of editorial procedures.

  • Editors: Conducting initial manuscript assessments, coordinating peer review, evaluating scholarly contributions, and recommending editorial decisions.

  • International Editorial Board: Contributing scholarly expertise, disciplinary perspectives, and academic advice relevant to the journal's development.

  • Assistant Editors: Supporting editorial administration, communication, manuscript preparation, and publication-related activities.

  • Peer Reviewers: Providing independent scholarly assessments of submitted manuscripts in accordance with the journal's review procedures.

The current composition of the editorial team, including institutional affiliations, is publicly available on the journal's official Editorial Team page.

3. Editorial Independence and Decision-Making

Jurnal Indo-Islamika is committed to maintaining editorial independence, scholarly integrity, and academic objectivity throughout its publication processes.

Editorial decisions are based on the academic quality, originality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, and relevance of submitted manuscripts to the journal's stated focus and scope.

The journal implements a double-blind peer-review procedure. Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are ordinarily evaluated by two reviewers. Additional review may be requested when necessary to address substantially differing assessments.

Final manuscript decisions are deliberated by the Editorial Board with consideration of the reviewers' reports and the journal's academic standards.

The journal's editorial governance is intended to ensure that decisions concerning acceptance, revision, or rejection are determined by scholarly merit rather than inappropriate institutional, financial, personal, or external influence.

The publisher's institutional role and the editorial team's scholarly responsibilities are distinguished to support transparent and accountable journal management.

4. Institutional Partnership and Academic Collaboration

Jurnal Indo-Islamika is published in collaboration with HIPIUS (The Association of Ushuluddin Community) under a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

This institutional partnership supports academic cooperation and the development of scholarly networks related to Islamic studies, intellectual traditions, and interdisciplinary research.

The collaboration provides a framework for strengthening academic engagement and the dissemination of research relevant to the journal's scholarly objectives.

The Graduate School of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta remains the identified institutional publisher, while editorial evaluation and manuscript decisions are undertaken through the journal's established editorial procedures.

Information concerning this partnership and its supporting MoU is available through the journal's official website.

5. Publishing Responsibilities and Operational Management
