Publication Ethics

Commitment to research integrity, editorial independence, transparency, and responsible scholarly publishing.

TAZKIYA Journal of Psychology, published by the Faculty of Psychology, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics. All parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher, are expected to uphold principles of honesty, fairness, confidentiality, and academic integrity.

This policy is informed by the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and establishes the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in scholarly publishing.

1. Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

Publication Decisions

Editors are responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts should be accepted for publication, rejected, or returned for revision. Decisions should be based on the manuscript's scholarly quality, originality, methodological rigor, relevance to the journal's scope, reviewers' recommendations, and applicable ethical standards.

Fairness and Editorial Independence

Manuscripts must be evaluated objectively and without discrimination based on an author's race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophy. Editorial decisions must not be influenced by personal relationships, institutional affiliations, commercial interests, or other inappropriate considerations.

Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts. Manuscript information may only be shared with authorized individuals involved in the editorial and publication process, as appropriate.

Conflicts of Interest

Editors must disclose relevant conflicts of interest and arrange for an independent editor to handle a manuscript when necessary. Unpublished information obtained through editorial duties must not be used for personal research or advantage without the author's explicit written consent.

2. Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer reviewers assist editors in making informed editorial decisions and provide constructive feedback that can help authors improve their manuscripts. Reviews should be scholarly, relevant, and supported by clear reasoning.

Competence and Timeliness

Reviewers who lack the appropriate expertise or are unable to complete a review within the requested timeframe should notify the editor promptly and decline the assignment when appropriate.

Confidentiality and Objectivity

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared with unauthorized parties. Reviewers must assess manuscripts objectively, avoid personal criticism, and provide clear explanations for their assessments.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published research that has not been cited by the authors. They should also inform the editor of substantial similarities or overlap between the manuscript under review and other published or unpublished work of which they are aware.

Conflicts of Interest

Reviewers must disclose potential conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, personal, or institutional relationships. Reviewers should decline assignments when such conflicts may compromise their impartiality. Unpublished material and ideas obtained during peer review must not be used for personal advantage.

3. Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

Reporting Standards and Research Integrity

Authors must present an accurate account of their research and an objective discussion of its significance. Data, methods, results, and conclusions must be reported honestly and clearly. Research reports should contain sufficient detail and references to support scholarly evaluation and, where applicable, replication. Fabrication, falsification, and knowingly misleading statements are unacceptable.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must submit original work and appropriately acknowledge the words, ideas, data, and findings of others through proper citation and quotation. Plagiarism and other forms of misappropriation of scholarly work are unacceptable. Manuscripts may be screened for originality in accordance with the journal's procedures.

Multiple and Concurrent Submissions

Authors must not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal. Submissions must not substantially duplicate previously published work without appropriate justification and disclosure. Any related publications or overlapping manuscripts should be disclosed to the editor.

Authorship and Contributions

Authorship should reflect substantial contributions to the conception or design of the study, data collection, analysis or interpretation, manuscript preparation or critical revision, and approval of the final version. All listed authors must approve the submitted manuscript and agree to its submission. Individuals who contributed but do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Authors must cite relevant research and acknowledge contributions that informed their work. Citations should be based on scholarly relevance and accuracy, not on an obligation to cite a particular journal or author.

Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest and Funding

Authors must disclose financial and non-financial conflicts of interest that could influence, or reasonably be perceived to influence, their research or its interpretation. All relevant sources of financial support should be acknowledged in the manuscript.

Ethical Approval and Research Participants

Research involving human participants must comply with applicable ethical requirements. Authors should provide information about ethical approval or exemption, informed consent, confidentiality, and participant protection where relevant to the study and required by the journal. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their research was conducted in accordance with applicable institutional and professional standards.

4. Duties and Responsibilities of the Publisher

The Faculty of Psychology, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, as the publisher of TAZKIYA: Journal of Psychology, supports the editorial team in maintaining publication quality and ethical standards. The publisher is committed to ensuring that commercial interests, advertising, reprints, or other revenue-generating activities do not improperly influence editorial decisions.

5. Corrections and Errors in Published Articles

Depending on the nature and severity of the issue, the journal may publish a correction, issue an expression of concern, or retract an article in accordance with its editorial policies.
