Data Sharing & Accessibility Policy
Supporting transparent research while safeguarding confidentiality, privacy, participant safety, and responsible access.
Jurnal Harkat: Media Komunikasi Gender, published by PSGA, LP2M UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, encourages responsible sharing of data and supporting research materials to strengthen transparency, credibility, and scholarly evaluation.
Authors are encouraged to provide appropriate datasets, research instruments, supplementary materials, and analytical documentation. A Data Availability Statement is encouraged where relevant.
The journal recognizes that public access may need to be restricted when research involves confidential records, identifiable participants, children, survivors of violence, vulnerable populations, or other sensitive information.
Research transparency must be balanced with ethical responsibility. Data sharing is encouraged when appropriate, but confidentiality, informed consent, legal restrictions, and participant safety take precedence over unrestricted disclosure.
This policy applies, where relevant, to materials supporting quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, documentary, and literature-based research published in Jurnal Harkat.
Sources and analytical procedures should be described adequately for scholarly assessment, subject to applicable copyright, confidentiality, and research-permission conditions.
Authors are encouraged to include a Data Availability Statement indicating whether supporting data are openly accessible, available upon reasonable request, included within the publication, or restricted for ethical or legal reasons.
These examples are suggested wording, not mandatory formulas. Statements must reflect the actual research materials and the conditions governing data access.
Jurnal Harkat gives particular attention to participant protection in research concerning gender relations, child welfare, family experiences, discrimination, social inequality, and gender-based violence.
Researchers must comply with appropriate ethics approval, informed-consent, and institutional requirements.
Materials requiring particular care include:
- Interview transcripts concerning sexual or gender-based violence.
- Personal information concerning children and families.
- Confidential accounts of discrimination or social vulnerability.
- Identifiable audio recordings, photographs, or case records.
- Research materials obtained under restricted consent or institutional permission.
When legally and ethically permissible, authors are encouraged to make supporting materials accessible through article supplementary files, institutional repositories, or appropriate research-data repositories.
- Provide accurate data-source descriptions and links or persistent identifiers where available.
- Make research instruments, coding frameworks, or documentation available when suitable.
- Cite published datasets, documents, and other sources appropriately.
- Respect copyright, informed consent, confidentiality, and institutional permissions.
- Consider restricted or controlled access where unrestricted public availability is unsuitable.
- Do not deposit identifiable or sensitive participant-level information in public repositories without the necessary authorization.
Access requests should be considered in accordance with relevant consent conditions, institutional obligations, legal requirements, and available resources.
Authors are responsible for accurately reporting research sources, methods, evidence, findings, and restrictions affecting access to underlying materials.
Editors and reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of data and documentation obtained during editorial evaluation.
Where serious concerns arise regarding the validity or authenticity of findings, the Editorial Team may request appropriate clarification or supporting documentation, subject to ethical and legal safeguards.
Suspected fabrication, falsification, inappropriate disclosure, or other serious breaches are handled through the journal's Publication Ethics and Research Misconduct policies.
Jurnal Harkat supports transparent research reporting and responsible accessibility while safeguarding the rights, dignity, confidentiality, and safety of research participants.
