Policy Statement

ELEMENTAR : Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar, published by the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, requires strict transparency concerning any financial, institutional, or personal interests that may compromise independent scholarly judgment.

Authors, reviewers, editors, and Editorial Board members must disclose actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest relevant to research, peer review, or editorial choices. This framework aligns with the journal's core Publication Ethics and relevant COPE principles.

Core Principle

A conflict of interest does not automatically indicate misconduct. However, relevant relationships and competing interests must be properly disclosed and managed to preserve transparency, fairness, and scholarly independence.

Financial Interests

Includes research grants, employment ties, corporate sponsorships, paid consultancies, honoraria, advisory positions, patent ownership, and other material financial relationships that could affect study interpretation.

Must be explicitly declared during initial submission.
Non-Financial Interests

Includes personal relationships, direct academic competition, institutional affiliations, professional collaborations, and ideological commitments regarding educational policy or primary curriculum models.

Equally critical to declare for transparent peer review.
2. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors must disclose all competing interests when submitting manuscripts and update declarations if circumstances change:

  • Identify all financial and non-financial interests relevant to the research topic.
  • Declare research funding sources and clarify the specific role of the funder.
  • Ensure submission statements accurately represent the collective interests of all co-authors.
  • Include a formal Conflict of Interest Statement in manuscript documentation.
When No Conflict Exists "The authors declare that they have no conflicts of interest."
When a Conflict Exists "The authors declare that [author name] has a relevant relationship with [organization]..."
3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers must maintain complete impartiality and confidentiality:

  • Disclose conflicts before accepting review tasks.
  • Decline invitations if personal or institutional ties compromise objectivity.
  • Promptly notify editors of any newly identified conflicts.
  • Protect confidential content from improper use.
Protects peer review integrity and fairness.
4. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors and Board members must ensure decisions remain free from inappropriate influence:

  • Declare competing interests prior to handling manuscripts.
  • Recuse themselves from affected editorial evaluations.
  • Arrange alternative independent handling when needed.
  • Base publication choices strictly on academic merit.
Guarantees full editorial independence.
5. Disclosure Management & Editorial Action

The Editorial Team evaluates declared competing interests based on potential impact. Appropriate measures include requesting clarification, reassigning editors, replacing reviewers, requesting independent academic assessments, or issuing post-publication corrections when material omissions are discovered. Disclosure alone is never automatic grounds for rejection.
