Data Sharing & Accessibility Policy

Supporting transparent primary education research while safeguarding confidentiality, privacy, participant safety, and responsible access.

RESEARCH TRANSPARENCY ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITY RESPONSIBLE ACCESS
Policy Statement

ELEMENTAR : Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar, published by the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, strongly encourages the responsible sharing of data and supporting research materials to strengthen academic transparency, credibility, and scholarly evaluation in primary education.

Authors are encouraged to provide appropriate datasets, instructional instruments, supplementary documents, and analytical records. Including a Data Availability Statement is recommended where relevant.

The journal recognizes that public access may need to be restricted or protected when research involves confidential school records, identifiable pupils, minor children, sensitive classroom observations, or vulnerable populations.

Core Principle

Research transparency must always be balanced with strict ethical responsibility. Data sharing is highly encouraged when appropriate, but confidentiality, informed parental/participant consent, legal restrictions, and participant safety take precedence over unrestricted disclosure.

1. Scope & Types of Research Data

Applies to quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, and classroom-action research published in ELEMENTAR:

  • Quantitative: Anonymized student survey metrics, test scores, and statistical spreadsheets.
  • Qualitative: Classroom observation notes, interview protocols, and coded transcripts.
  • Pedagogical Materials: Lesson plans, learning media, and curriculum documents.
  • Literature-Based: Search strategies, synthesis notes, and bibliometric records.
Must be described adequately for scholarly replication.
2. Data Availability Statement

Authors should include a clear statement indicating accessibility status:

  • Publicly Available: Data hosted in open repositories with persistent DOIs.
  • Upon Request: Available from corresponding authors under ethical limits.
  • Confidential: Restricted data due to student privacy or school agreements.
  • Not Applicable: For literature-based or theoretical reviews.
Statements must accurately reflect actual research materials.
3. Participant Protection & Privacy

Special care is mandatory for educational studies involving primary school students, minors, or vulnerable groups. Researchers must comply with IRB approvals and parental consent requirements.

Identifiable student records, personal classroom details, or sensitive institutional feedback must never be published without explicit authorization.

Prioritizes minor safety and institutional confidentiality.
4. Responsible Access & Citation

When legally and ethically permissible, authors are encouraged to deposit supporting materials in trusted repositories:

  • Provide accurate source descriptions and persistent links.
  • Properly cite datasets, curricula, and secondary sources.
  • Respect copyright, institutional permissions, and user privacy.
Ensures proper attribution across all scholarly works.
5. Editorial Responsibility & Research Integrity

Authors are fully responsible for accurately reporting research sources, methodologies, and any access restrictions. Editors and reviewers maintain strict data confidentiality during evaluation. Where validity concerns arise, editors may request supplementary documentation, handling any suspected data fabrication through formal research misconduct protocols.
