Authorship and Contributorship Policy

ELEMENTAR : JURNAL PENDIDIKAN DASAR
Authorship and Contributorship Policy

Ensuring transparent scholarly contributions, ethical responsibilities, and academic accountability in primary education research.

GENUINE CONTRIBUTION TRANSPARENT AUTHORSHIP ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
Policy Statement

ELEMENTAR : Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar, published by the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, is deeply committed to upholding highest standards of ethical authorship, transparent credit distribution, and rigorous academic integrity.

Authorship must genuinely reflect direct intellectual participation in research covering elementary education, primary school pedagogy, instructional technology, basic sciences/social studies concepts, and foundational learning development.

In accordance with international publication standards and Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines, all named authors must meet the baseline criteria, review the final layout, and accept collective accountability for the published study.

Core Principle

Authorship is strictly tied to substantive intellectual input and direct accountability. Academic rank, administrative position, institutional leadership, routine supervision, financial support, or basic provision of research facilities alone do not justify authorship eligibility.

1. Criteria for Authorship

Every listed author must fulfill all four of the following criteria:

•
Substantial Contributions: Conception, design, acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of elementary education data.

•
Manuscript Preparation: Drafting the article or critically revising core intellectual content and arguments.

•
Final Approval: Reviewing and formally approving the final publication version prior to submission.

•
Accountability: Agreeing to be accountable for integrity, accuracy, and resolution of any scholarly queries.
Contributors not meeting all criteria should instead be recognized in the Acknowledgments section.
2. Contributorship & CRediT Roles

Authors must supply a precise Author Contribution Statement. ELEMENTAR recommends mapping roles using the 14 standard CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) categories:

Conceptualization Methodology Investigation Formal Analysis Data Curation Software Validation Visualization Writing – Original Draft Writing – Review & Editing Resources Supervision Project Administration Funding Acquisition
Example Disclosure:
Author Contributions: A.B.: Conceptualization, Methodology, Writing – Original Draft. C.D.: Investigation, Formal Analysis. E.F.: Supervision, Writing – Review & Editing.
Routine proofreading or administrative assistance does not confer authorship rights.
3. Author Order and Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The sequence of authors must be established and agreed upon collectively by all co-authors prior to initial submission. Names, institutional affiliations, and email addresses must match OJS system records precisely.

The Corresponding Author acts as the primary contact and assumes responsibility for:
  • Ensuring all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript version.
  • Managing official communication during peer review, layout editing, and proof corrections.
  • Keeping all co-authors fully informed of editorial status, evaluations, and production progress.
  • Certifying accurate disclosures regarding funding support, competing interests, and ethics compliance.
4. Unacceptable Authorship Practices

ELEMENTAR strictly condemns any practice that distorts transparent scholarly reporting or compromises institutional integrity:

Guest / Honorary AuthorshipIncluding individuals solely based on status, prestige, or administrative rank without direct input.
Ghost AuthorshipOmitting qualified contributors who carried out major sections of the research or writing.
Gift / Reciprocal AuthorshipAdding names as a mutual favor or courtesy without substantive intellectual contribution.
Coercive AuthorshipDemanding or forcing authorship placement by leveraging supervisory, hierarchical, or funding power.
5. Authorship Changes & Disputes

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange author names after manuscript submission must be sent to the Editor with a formal signed explanation and full consent from all involved parties.

  • Before Publication: Evaluated carefully by editors upon receipt of written justification and unanimous author confirmation.
  • After Publication: Handled strictly through formal errata, corrigenda, or metadata amendments if substantiated.
Editorial processing will pause during unresolved authorship disputes.
6. Artificial Intelligence & Authorship

Generative AI models, conversational tools, and language engines (such as ChatGPT) cannot be registered as authors because they are unable to assume legal or scholarly accountability.

If AI tools are used for drafting assistance or grammar refinement, authors must transparently disclose the tool name, version, and purpose in the cover letter and methodology or acknowledgment sections. Human authors retain full responsibility for content accuracy.

Human authors remain entirely accountable for final manuscript integrity.
