Post-Publication Discussion
Jurnal Teknik Informatika (JTI) encourages constructive scholarly discussion following publication to maintain the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scientific record in computer science and information technology. Readers, researchers, practitioners, and other stakeholders may submit comments, corrections, or concerns in accordance with the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Forms of Post-Publication Discussion
- Letters to the Editor: Readers may submit evidence-based comments or critical evaluations of published articles. Submissions must be relevant, professional, and constructive.
- Author Responses: Authors are given the opportunity to respond to substantive comments or criticisms concerning their published work.
- Commentary Articles: The journal may consider commentaries addressing significant scientific issues, subject to editorial assessment and peer review where appropriate.
2. Discussion Platforms
Post-publication discussions may take place through:
- Open Journal Systems (OJS): The journal's official platform for formal scientific discussions and editorial correspondence.
- WhatsApp Groups: Platforms for informal academic discussions and exchanges among the journal community, where available.
Informal discussions do not replace official editorial procedures. Concerns requiring formal action must be submitted through the journal's OJS platform or official editorial email address.
3. Discussion Guidelines
All participants must:
- Maintain academic integrity, professional conduct, and mutual respect.
- Focus discussions on the scientific content, methodology, findings, and implications of published articles.
- Refrain from personal attacks, defamatory statements, spam, advertising, and irrelevant content.
- Submit formal concerns, including requests for corrections or retractions, through official editorial channels.
Group administrators may restrict or remove participants who violate these guidelines.
4. Submission of Formal Comments
Letters to the Editor and other formal concerns should be submitted through the journal's official website or editorial email address.
Submissions should include:
- The author's full name and institutional affiliation.
- A valid contact email address.
- The title or DOI of the article concerned.
- A clear explanation of the issue supported by relevant evidence or references.
The Editorial Board will acknowledge and assess submissions according to its editorial procedures. An initial response is expected within 30 working days, depending on the complexity of the case.
5. Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and Retractions
In accordance with COPE guidance and the journal's publication ethics policy, the Editorial Board may take the following actions when credible concerns arise:
- Correction (Erratum/Corrigendum): Issued to correct errors that do not substantially undermine the validity of the research or its principal conclusions.
- Expression of Concern: Published when credible concerns exist but the available evidence is insufficient for an immediate correction or retraction, including while an investigation is ongoing.
- Retraction: Issued when serious errors, plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, research misconduct, or other substantial problems undermine the reliability of published findings.
Editorial decisions will be based on an appropriate assessment of the evidence. Notices will explain the reasons for the action and be linked to the original article. Retracted articles will remain accessible with a clear retraction notice to preserve the scholarly record.
6. Commitment to Scientific Integrity
JTI is committed to handling post-publication comments and concerns fairly, objectively, and transparently, while maintaining confidentiality where appropriate. This policy promotes constructive scientific dialogue, research accountability, and the integrity of the published literature in computer science and information technology.
