Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarism Policy
Kordinat: Jurnal Komunikasi Antar Perguruan Tinggi Agama Islam recognizes that plagiarism is an unethical practice and unacceptable for all authors. Therefore, the journal has established the following policy outlining specific actions and penalties when plagiarism is detected through our anti-plagiarism software (Turnitin) in any submitted manuscript.
A maximum similarity index of 20% is allowed for submitted papers. If the similarity report indicates more than 20%, the manuscript will be returned to the author for revision and resubmission.
Definition of Plagiarism
“Plagiarism is copying another person's text, data, or ideas and presenting the copied material as one’s own work.” To avoid accusations of plagiarism, authors must clearly distinguish (delineate) the copied text from their own writing and provide appropriate credit (citation) to the original source.
Plagiarism is considered a form of academic fraud and may result in serious consequences, including loss of academic reputation, professional sanctions, or the rejection of submitted work.
This definition applies to all forms of copied text, data, or ideas, regardless of the following:
- The source of the copied material (books, articles, websites, theses, or reports).
- Whether the copied source itself was plagiarized from another source.
- Whether the authorship of the copied material is known or anonymous.
- The type of document in which the plagiarism occurs (journal article, web content, academic assignment, etc.).
- Whether permission to copy the material was granted by the original author.
- Whether the author copies from their own previous work (self-plagiarism).
Plagiarism Detection and Editorial Action
When plagiarism is identified by the plagiarism detection software, the Editorial Board of Kordinat will review the case and decide on appropriate measures based on the severity of the plagiarism, according to the following guidelines:
1. Minor Plagiarism
A small portion of another manuscript (a few sentences or a short paragraph) is plagiarized without significant data or ideas being taken from the source.
Action: The author will receive a formal warning and be required to revise the manuscript to properly cite the original sources before further consideration.
2. Intermediate Plagiarism
A significant paragraph, data, or section of an article is plagiarized without proper citation or attribution to the original source.
Action: The manuscript is automatically rejected and will not be processed further.
3. Severe Plagiarism
A large portion of the manuscript is plagiarized, including replication of original data, results, methods, equations, or ideas from previously published work.
Action: The manuscript is automatically rejected, and the author(s) are banned from submitting future manuscripts to Kordinat: Jurnal Komunikasi Antar Perguruan Tinggi Agama Islam.
