This study aims to develop a project-based STEM learning design involving a solar oven that facilitates the application of computational thinking skills among elementary school students. The study employs the Educational Design Research (EDR) method based on the McKenney and Reeves model, comprising three stages: analysis and exploration, design and construction, and evaluation and reflection. The research subjects consisted of 24 fourth-grade students from SDN 1 Gunungpereng, while validation was conducted by one expert validator. Data were collected using validation sheets, observation sheets, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods. Validation results indicated that the learning design achieved a score of 80% (categorized as feasible). Beta evaluation results based on observations and documentation of learning activities as well as educator interviews demonstrated that the learning design enables students to apply four aspects of computational thinking skills: decomposition, abstraction, algorithms, and debugging. Thus, the developed project-based STEM learning design (solar oven) yields a design and set of learning principles that can serve as an initial reference for facilitating the application of computational thinking skills through contextual projects in elementary schools.
