Pengaruh Gaya Pengasuhan, Keterampilan Sosial, dan Kesepian Terhadap Kecenderungan Adiksi Internet Pada Remaja

Abstract


For a teenagers who have a vulnerable nature, have a lot of free time and high curiosity can make internet use become excessive and may lead to negative impact. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of parenting style, social skills, and loneliness on the tendency of internet addiction in adolescents. This study used a quantitative approach, 12-22 year-old adolescents was choosen as samples using accidental sampling. Four instruments was used to gathered data, they were internet addiction scale that compiled by Griffiths (2005) and developed by Lemmens (2009), Parenting Authority Questionnaire (PAQ) developed by Buri (1991), Social Skill Inventory (SSI) developed by Riggio (1986), and A Rasch-Type Loneliness Scale compiled by De Jong Gierveld (2006). CFA (Confirmatory Factor Analysis) was used to test the validity of instruments and multiple regression analysis was used to answer research questions. This study found a significant effect of parenting style, social skills, and loneliness on the tendency of internet addiction in adolescents with R-square 25.4%. Four variables that had a significant effect were authoritarian style, permissive style, social sensitivity, and social control on the tendency of internet addiction in adolescents.
