Peer Review Process
SOSIO-DIDAKTIKA: Social Science Education Journal applies a peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, relevance, and academic integrity of all manuscripts submitted for publication.
1. Initial Editorial Screening
Upon submission, the editorial team examines each manuscript to determine whether it falls within the journal’s focus and scope and complies with the journal’s submission guidelines. The manuscript is also screened for completeness, originality, and potential ethical concerns, including plagiarism.
Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s basic requirements or fall outside its scope may be rejected at this stage or returned to the authors for revision.
2. Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to qualified reviewers with expertise relevant to the subject matter. The journal uses a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review process.
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:
-
Originality and contribution to knowledge.
-
Relevance to the journal’s focus and scope.
-
Theoretical foundation and engagement with relevant literature.
-
Appropriateness of the research design and methodology.
-
Clarity and validity of the analysis and interpretation of findings.
-
Quality of discussion, conclusions, and academic writing.
-
Compliance with publication ethics.
Reviewers provide recommendations and constructive comments to assist the editors in making publication decisions and help authors improve their manuscripts.
3. Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewers’ reports and the editor’s assessment, a manuscript may receive one of the following decisions:
-
Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication.
-
Minor Revision: The manuscript requires limited revisions before a final decision.
-
Major Revision: Substantial revisions are required, and the revised manuscript may be sent back to the reviewers.
-
Reject: The manuscript does not meet the journal’s publication standards or is unsuitable for publication.
The final decision rests with the editor, taking into account the reviewers’ recommendations, the manuscript’s scholarly merit, and the journal’s editorial policies.
4. Revision and Resubmission
Authors whose manuscripts require revision must address the reviewers’ and editors’ comments carefully. Authors should submit a revised manuscript accompanied by a point-by-point response explaining how each comment has been addressed. If a suggestion is not followed, the authors should provide a clear academic justification.
Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.
5. Publication Decision and Production
A manuscript is accepted for publication only after it has satisfied the journal’s editorial and peer-review requirements. Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, layout preparation, and proofreading before publication.
The editorial team may request corrections during the production process to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with the journal’s publication standards.
6. Confidentiality and Ethical Standards
All manuscripts under review are treated as confidential documents. Editors and reviewers must not disclose manuscript contents or use unpublished information for personal or professional advantage.
Reviewers are expected to declare any potential conflicts of interest and decline assignments when impartial evaluation cannot be ensured. The editorial team is committed to maintaining fairness, confidentiality, transparency, and academic integrity throughout the review process.
7. Review Duration
The duration of the review process may vary depending on reviewer availability, the complexity of the manuscript, and the extent of revisions required. Authors will be informed of editorial decisions through the journal’s online submission system.
SOSIO-DIDAKTIKA: Social Science Education Journal strives to conduct its peer-review process in a fair, timely, and constructive manner to support the publication of high-quality scholarly research.
