Author Guideline
1. Manuscript Requirements
SOSIO-DIDAKTIKA: Social Science Education Journal welcomes original research articles, conceptual papers, and review articles that contribute to the advancement of social science education. Submitted manuscripts must demonstrate originality, academic rigor, methodological appropriateness, and relevance to the journal's focus and scope.
Manuscripts must not have been published previously or be under consideration for publication in another journal. Authors are responsible for ensuring that submissions comply with research ethics, publication ethics, and applicable requirements concerning permissions and acknowledgments.
Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the journal's online submission system. Submissions that do not meet the journal's basic requirements may be returned to authors before entering the peer-review process.
2. Manuscript Structure
Manuscripts should generally follow the structure below, with appropriate adjustments for conceptual papers and review articles.
2.1. Title
The title should be concise, informative, and representative of the manuscript's main topic. Authors are encouraged to limit the title to 14 words and avoid unnecessary abbreviations.
2.2. Author Names and Affiliations
The manuscript must include the full names of all authors without academic titles, their institutional affiliations, and email addresses. One author must be designated as the corresponding author. The corresponding author's email address should be clearly indicated.
All listed authors must have made a meaningful scholarly contribution to the work and must approve the final version of the manuscript.
2.3. Abstract and Keywords
The abstract should be no longer than 150 words and must clearly summarize the research problem, objectives, methods, principal findings, and implications.
Authors should provide abstracts in English and Indonesian, subject to the journal's language requirements. Each manuscript should include three to five keywords that represent its main concepts and topics.
2.4. Introduction
The introduction should explain the research background, identify the relevant problem, and establish the significance of the study. It should critically review relevant previous research, identify the research gap, and clearly state the research objectives and novelty.
Authors should demonstrate how the study contributes to existing knowledge and practice in social science education.
2.5. Methods
The methods section should describe the research design, context, participants or data sources, data collection procedures, instruments, and analytical techniques, as applicable.
Authors should provide sufficient methodological detail to enable readers to understand how the study was conducted and how the findings were derived. Ethical approval or informed consent should be reported when applicable.
2.6. Results and Discussion
The results section should present the main findings clearly and systematically, using tables, figures, or other appropriate forms of presentation where necessary.
The discussion should interpret the findings in relation to the research objectives, relevant theories, and previous studies. Authors should explain the study's original contribution, theoretical implications, and practical relevance to social science education. Findings should be discussed critically rather than merely repeated.
2.7. Conclusion
The conclusion should summarize the principal findings and directly address the research objectives. It should highlight the study's contribution, implications for educational practice or policy where relevant, and recommendations for future research.
The conclusion should be concise and consistent with the evidence presented in the manuscript. Claims should not extend beyond the findings.
2.8. Acknowledgments
Acknowledgments, where applicable, should identify individuals, institutions, or organizations that provided meaningful assistance or financial support but do not qualify for authorship. Funding sources should be disclosed where relevant.
2.9. References
The reference list must include only sources cited in the manuscript. Authors should prioritize relevant, reliable, and recent scholarly publications, particularly peer-reviewed journal articles. As a general recommendation, more than 80% of the references should be publications from the preceding ten years, except for seminal works and other essential sources.
Authors are encouraged to use approximately 20–25 relevant references as an initial guideline, while ensuring that the number and quality of references are appropriate to the manuscript's scope and type.
3. General Formatting Requirements
Manuscripts should be prepared according to the journal's official Microsoft Word template. Unless the template specifies otherwise, authors should follow these general requirements:
-
Paper size: A4.
-
Font: Times New Roman, 11-point.
-
Line spacing: single.
-
Length: approximately 4,000–7,000 words, or 10–15 pages, including references, tables, and figures unless otherwise specified by the journal.
-
Title: concise and informative, with capitalization following standard academic English conventions.
-
Headings and subheadings: organized hierarchically and formatted consistently.
-
Paragraphs: clearly structured, with consistent indentation and spacing.
-
Language: clear and grammatically correct academic English. Manuscripts in Indonesian may be considered if permitted by the journal's language policy.
Authors should prioritize the official journal template whenever its formatting requirements differ from these general guidelines.
4. Equations, Tables, and Figures
4.1. Equations
Equations and mathematical formulas should be clearly presented and numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals in parentheses, such as (1), (2), and (3). Equation numbers should be aligned to the right.
4.2. Tables
Tables should be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals and given concise, informative titles above the table. Tables should be cited in the manuscript text and positioned close to the relevant discussion.
Tables should be designed clearly and consistently. Authors are encouraged to minimize unnecessary vertical lines and use a simple academic table format. Notes and data sources should be placed below the table where appropriate.
4.3. Figures
Figures, including charts, diagrams, maps, and photographs, should be numbered consecutively and provided with descriptive captions below each figure. Figures must be legible and of sufficient resolution for publication.
Authors must identify the source of any reproduced or adapted material and obtain permission when required.
4.4. Statistical Results
Statistical and analytical results should be presented in clear, interpretable tables or figures where appropriate. Raw software output should not be inserted directly into the manuscript. Authors should report relevant statistics, explain analytical procedures, and interpret the findings in the context of the research questions.
5. Citation and Referencing Style
SOSIO-DIDAKTIKA: Social Science Education Journal recommends the American Psychological Association (APA) referencing style. Authors should apply the journal's specified APA edition consistently throughout the manuscript.
In-text citations should include the author's surname and year of publication. Examples include:
-
Narrative citation: Smith (2022) argues that social science education supports critical thinking.
-
Parenthetical citation: Social science education can foster critical thinking (Smith, 2022).
-
Multiple sources: Previous studies have examined this issue from different perspectives (Smith, 2021; Jones & Brown, 2023).
Every in-text citation must correspond to an entry in the reference list, and every reference-list entry must be cited in the manuscript.
Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley or Zotero to organize citations and maintain consistency.
6. Research Ethics and Publication Integrity
Authors must ensure that their manuscripts comply with accepted standards of research and publication ethics. Plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, data falsification, and other forms of research misconduct are unacceptable.
Authors must disclose relevant conflicts of interest and acknowledge funding or other support where applicable. Research involving human participants should comply with applicable ethical requirements, including informed consent and confidentiality protections where necessary.
The journal may screen submissions for similarity and investigate suspected ethical violations in accordance with its editorial policies.

Submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their relevance to the journal's focus and scope, compliance with submission requirements, and general scholarly quality.
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening proceed to peer review in accordance with the journal's established review procedures. Based on the reviewers' recommendations and the editor's assessment, the manuscript may receive one of the following decisions:
a. Accepted without revision.
b. Accepted with minor revisions.

The editorial decision will be communicated to the corresponding author through the journal's online submission system. Authors asked to revise their manuscripts should address the reviewers' comments carefully and submit the revised manuscript within the specified period.
9. Copyright and Licensing
Authors must review the journal's copyright and licensing policies before submission. The applicable copyright arrangements and license for published articles will be stated on the journal website and in the published articles.
Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to use third-party material where required and for ensuring that all necessary acknowledgments are included.
10. Manuscript Template
Authors are strongly encouraged to use the official Microsoft Word manuscript template provided on the SOSIO-DIDAKTIKA journal website. The template should be followed for formatting headings, abstracts, tables, figures, citations, and references.
If the template is not available, authors should contact the editorial team before preparing the final submission.
