KONSTRUKSI MASKULINITAS DAN PERILAKU BUNUH DIRI PADA LAKI-LAKI DALAM BUDAYA PATRIARKI: SEBUAH NARRATIVE REVIEW

Abstract. Patriarchal culture continues to be perpetuated in various countries, including Indonesia. This study aims to examine the construction of masculinity in men who engage in suicidal behavior within the framework of patriarchy. The method used is a literature study with a narrative review approach, reviewed through literature searches from three databases, namely Semantic Scholar, ScienceDirect, and ProQuest. The selection process was based on the PRISMA diagram, and 15 journals were obtained that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results show that patriarchal values inherited through social structures and cultural norms shape the meaning of masculinity, where men are required to always be strong, autonomous, and use their bodies as a space to express pressure. The denial of masculine values is often interpreted as a form of social failure that may contribute to suicidal ideation and behavior. These findings imply the importance of cultural approaches in building adaptive masculine identities to prevent suicidal behavior.
Abstrak. Budaya patriarki masih dilanggengkan di berbagai negara, termasuk Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji konstruksi maskulinitas pada laki-laki yang berperilaku bunuh diri dalam bingkai patriarki. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi literatur dengan pendekatan narrative review yang dikaji melalui penelusuran literatur dari tiga basis data, yaitu Semantic Scholar, ScienceDirect, dan ProQuest. Proses pemilihan didasarkan pada diagram PRISMA dan diperoleh 15 jurnal yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai patriarkal yang diwariskan melalui struktur sosial dan norma kultural membentuk pemaknaan maskulinitas, yaitu laki-laki dituntut untuk senantiasa kuat, berotonomi, dan menjadikan tubuh sebagai ruang ekspresi tekanan. Pengingkaran terhadap nilai maskulin sering kali dimaknai sebagai kegagalan sosial yang dapat berkontribusi terhadap munculnya ideasi hingga perilaku bunuh diri. Implikasi temuan ini mendorong pendekatan budaya untuk membangun identitas maskulinitas yang adaptif untuk mencegah perilaku bunuh diri.
