Verstehen: Journal of Qur’anic Studies and Exegesis is a biannual, bilingual, and peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to advancing critical and interdisciplinary studies of the Qur’an and its exegesis. The journal seeks to foster rigorous academic engagement by bringing together diverse intellectual traditions, methodologies, and interpretive approaches that characterize contemporary Qur’anic scholarship.

Published in both English and Arabic, VERSTEHEN serves as an important intellectual bridge connecting Muslim scholarly traditions, Western academic discourse, and the rich exegetical heritage of the Nusantara. Through this cross-cultural and cross-linguistic dialogue, the journal promotes inclusive, balanced, and globally relevant perspectives on Qur’anic interpretation.
