Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

Al-Kauniyah is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published biannually in April and October. The journal applies a rigorous review process to ensure the quality, originality, and scientific contribution of every manuscript submitted for publication.

The peer review process in Al-Kauniyah is conducted as follows:

1. Initial Editorial Screening
All submitted manuscripts are first evaluated by the Editorial Board to ensure their conformity with the journal’s focus and scope, author guidelines, and publication ethics. At this stage, the manuscript is also screened for similarity and potential plagiarism using appropriate similarity-checking tools.

2. Technical and Format Compliance Check
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are further examined for compliance with the journal’s formatting requirements, template, citation style, and completeness of submission files. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned to the authors for technical revision before entering the peer review stage.

3. Double-Blind Peer Review
Al-Kauniyah employs a double-blind peer review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review process. This policy is intended to ensure an objective, fair, and unbiased evaluation of the manuscript.

4. Review by at Least Two Reviewers
Each manuscript that passes the editorial screening is sent to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. The reviewers are selected based on their academic expertise and research experience related to the topic of the manuscript.

5. Criteria for Review
Reviewers assess the manuscript based on several academic aspects, including:

  • relevance to the journal’s scope;

  • originality and novelty of the study;

  • scientific significance and contribution to the field;

  • clarity of title, abstract, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusion;

  • adequacy and relevance of references;

  • ethical compliance and academic integrity.

6. Reviewers’ Recommendation
Based on their evaluation, reviewers provide recommendations to the Editorial Board in one of the following categories:

  • accepted without revision;

  • accepted with minor revisions;

  • accepted with major revisions;

  • rejected.

Reviewers may also provide detailed comments and suggestions to help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts.

7. Editorial Decision
The final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript is made by the Editorial Board based on the reviewers’ reports and the overall editorial consideration. Authors will be informed of the editorial decision along with the reviewers’ comments.

8. Revision and Resubmission
If revisions are required, authors are expected to revise their manuscripts carefully and resubmit the revised version within the time specified by the journal. Revised manuscripts may be sent back to the reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.

9. Review Timeline
Al-Kauniyah aims to complete the review process and communicate the editorial decision to authors within approximately 8 to 12 weeks, depending on the availability of reviewers and the extent of revisions required.
