Commitment to Digital Preservation
Arabiyat: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa Arab dan Kebahasaaraban is committed to supporting the long-term preservation, accessibility, and integrity of its published scholarly content.
The journal recognizes digital preservation as an important responsibility of scholarly publishing. Research articles and their associated publication records should remain identifiable and accessible beyond their initial publication date.
To support this commitment, the journal establishes a digital archiving policy covering electronic backups, preservation of published content and metadata, continuity of access, and appropriate measures for managing technological changes or disruptions to the publishing platform.
1. Digital Archiving and Preservation
Arabiyat publishes its scholarly content through Open Journal Systems (OJS), which serves as the journal's primary online publishing platform.
The journal's digital preservation policy is designed to support the retention of published articles and their associated bibliographic information, including article titles, author names, abstracts, publication dates, and persistent identifiers where assigned.
The Editorial Team and publisher are responsible for maintaining suitable arrangements for storing and managing published content, taking into account available infrastructure, applicable publishing standards, and the need for continued scholarly access.
2. Electronic Backup and Data Protection
The journal's electronic backup policy aims to reduce the risk of permanent data loss resulting from technical failure, accidental deletion, software problems, security incidents, or other disruptions affecting the publishing platform.
The publisher is responsible for arranging periodic backups of essential journal content and publication records. Backup procedures should include, where applicable:
- Published article files and available supplementary materials.
- Article metadata and bibliographic records.
- Journal issues, publication dates, and article identifiers.
- Essential publishing-system information required for recovery.
- Backup copies stored separately from the primary production environment where technically and operationally feasible.
Backup arrangements should be reviewed periodically, and restoration procedures should be considered as part of the journal's operational planning. The frequency, storage arrangements, and scope of backups are determined by the publisher's available infrastructure and technical requirements.

Arabiyat seeks to maintain continued access to its published scholarly content through its official journal website and appropriate digital preservation arrangements.
The journal recognizes that access to scholarly publications may be affected by technological changes, server migration, changes in hosting services, or interruptions to the publishing platform.
In such circumstances, the Editorial Team and publisher will make reasonable efforts to restore access to available publication files and bibliographic records using existing backups or other appropriate preservation resources.
In the event that the journal or publisher ceases operation, reasonable efforts should be made to retain or transfer available published content and metadata to a suitable preservation arrangement, subject to applicable legal, licensing, and technical conditions.
5. External Digital Preservation
In addition to publisher-managed backup arrangements, the journal recognizes the importance of independent digital preservation services in supporting the long-term retention of scholarly publications.
Where technically and administratively feasible, Arabiyat may establish or maintain arrangements with recognized digital preservation services, institutional repositories, or other suitable archival facilities.
The journal will communicate information about specific external archiving arrangements when participation, content deposit, and relevant preservation conditions have been confirmed. The use of any external service remains subject to its eligibility requirements, agreements, and technical procedures.
6. Metadata and Scholarly Record Integrity
The journal recognizes that reliable bibliographic information is necessary for the identification, citation, retrieval, and long-term use of published scholarly work.
Arabiyat seeks to maintain accurate publication metadata, including article titles, author information, abstracts, publication dates, journal issue details, and persistent identifiers where applicable.
Changes affecting the status or scholarly interpretation of an article, including corrections and retractions, should be documented in accordance with the journal's applicable publication-ethics policies. Preservation of the scholarly record includes maintaining appropriate information about such changes.
7. Editorial and Publisher Responsibilities
The Editorial Team and publisher share responsibility for supporting the preservation of published content and maintaining the continuity of the journal's scholarly record.
Their responsibilities include:
- Maintaining appropriate arrangements for electronic backup and storage.
- Supporting the integrity and availability of published files and metadata.
- Reviewing preservation arrangements when technical or organizational changes occur.
- Taking reasonable measures to address loss of access or publishing-platform disruptions.
- Providing accurate information about the journal's actual preservation arrangements.
