Peer Review Process

ORBIT: Journal of University Student and Career Development is a peer-reviewed academic journal that applies a rigorous review process to ensure the quality, validity, originality, and relevance of all published articles. Each submitted manuscript is critically assessed by reviewers with appropriate expertise in student development, career development, employability, higher education, and other related multidisciplinary fields.

ORBIT implements a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential throughout the review process. To ensure anonymity, all identifying information is removed from the manuscript before it is sent to reviewers.

All manuscripts submitted to ORBIT undergo an initial screening by the Editor-in-Chief and/or Editors to assess their relevance to the journal’s aims and scope, compliance with author guidelines, originality, and overall suitability for review. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s basic requirements may be rejected at this stage without external review.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to two or more independent reviewers. The reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on its originality, theoretical and practical contribution, methodological quality, clarity of analysis, relevance to the journal’s scope, and overall academic merit. In cases where reviewers’ assessments differ significantly, an additional reviewer may be appointed.

If the Editor-in-Chief, Editors, Reviewers, or Advisory Board members are listed as authors or co-authors of a submitted manuscript, they will not be involved in the review or decision-making process for that manuscript. This policy is applied to maintain objectivity, fairness, and prevent conflicts of interest.

Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief or a designated Editor will make one of the following editorial decisions: accepted, accepted with revisions, resubmitted for review, or rejected. Authors are given the opportunity to revise their manuscripts in response to reviewers’ comments. Revised manuscripts may be re-evaluated by the original reviewers or assessed directly by the Editor, depending on the extent of the revisions required.

Reviewers are required to maintain the confidentiality of all manuscripts prior to publication and to disclose any potential conflicts of interest. Through this peer review process, ORBIT is committed to publishing high-quality, original, and impactful research in the field of university student and career development.
