تأثير تدخل دولة الامارات العربية المتحدة في الازمة الانسانية في النزاع المسلح غير الدولي في السودان خلال عامي 2023–2024 (The Impact of The United Arab Emirates' Intervention in the Humanitarian Crisis in the Non-International Armed Conflict in Sudan During 2023-2024)
Abstract
In 2023–2024, the non-international armed conflict in Sudan intensified once more due to escalating tensions between the military and the Rapid Support Force (RSF) paramilitary groups following the ousting of President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir. The situation deteriorated with the intervention of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which intensified the conflict. This study seeks to evaluate the effects of the UAE's interventions on Sudan's humanitarian crisis. The methodology is qualitative descriptive-analytical, utilizing a humanitarian intervention framework grounded in a realist perspective. The study's findings indicate that the UAE's assistance exacerbated the humanitarian catastrophe in Sudan across multiple dimensions. Initially, individual and collective crises are marked by escalating mortality, ethnic massacres, structural marginalisation, and systematic violence directed at specific communities. Secondly, the economic situation is evidenced by the depreciating currency, diminishing investment, and decreasing food supplies. Third, the food crisis resulting from disturbed distribution and escalating food prices. The health crisis deteriorated due to restricted access to healthcare services and a rise in diseases amid the turmoil of the battle. The refugee situation compelled thousands of Sudanese to escape both within the country and internationally.
