Focus and Scope

Journal of Politics and Islamic Society - JPIS (ISSN - ; E-ISSN: -) is an Indonesian journal for politics and Muslim society studies published by the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University of Jakarta, INDONESIA. This journal warmly welcomes contributions from scholars of related disciplines

JPIS publishes high-quality research on political dynamics and Muslim society in Indonesia.

JPIS welcomes both theoretical and empirical contributions in the following fields: JPIS welcomes both theoretical and empirical contributions in the following fields: 1) Political theories and ideologies in Indonesian Muslim contexts, 2) Islam, democracy, and governance in Indonesia, 3) Political behavior, participation, and social movements in Indonesian Muslim societies, 4) Comparative politics of Indonesian Muslim societies, 5) Religion, identity, and socio-political change in Indonesia.

Peer Review Process

All articles submitted to JPIS are subject to peer-review processes. The editorial team first screens submissions for relevance, originality, and compliance with the journal’s guidelines. All submitted articles are subject to a double-blind review process. Reviewers are selected based on their subject expertise, academic qualifications, and publication record, while ensuring diversity in geography, gender, and institutional affiliation. The accepted research articles will be available online following the journal peer-reviewing process. The final decision whether or not an article is accepted is on the right of the editor-in-chief based on recommendations from the reviewers. Click here to get the information about author guidelines.

 

Publication Frequency

Journal of Politics and Islamic Society, published two times a year (June and December) since 2025, is a peer-reviewed journal, and specializes in Indonesian political and Muslim society studies.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
