PEREMPUAN SEBAGAI PELAKU DALAM SUBSISTEN SOSIAL DAN EKONOMI

Abstract

Abstract. Women play a crucial role in maintaining autonomous subsistence bases. This is because women worldwide are often marginalized and face challenges in benefiting from modernization. As a result, women must act as agents of change for themselves and their communities, especially in economic, social, and ecological systems dominated by patriarchal paradigms. This study delves into the role of women as key actors in the subsistence projects undertaken by KCD Wahid. It focuses on economic, social, and environmental sustainability programs, as well as women's perceptions, beliefs, and attitudes toward their participation in these initiatives. Using a qualitative approach, the research explores the experiences of women activists in KCD Wahid, sheds light on women's empowerment, and applies the subsistence theory introduced by Mies & Bennholdt-Thomsen (1999). Additionally, case studies deepen the analysis of specific instances, such as the role of women in various aspects of subsistence. The findings reveal that KCD Wahid aims not only to improve women's well-being through economic empowerment but also to promote values of tolerance and diversity, aligning with Gus Dur's principles. Moreover, women are actively involved in social and environmental spheres, contributing to decision-making, leading projects, and initiating activities that positively impact their families and communities. This active involvement portrays women as catalysts for societal progress, offering alternatives to patriarchal viewpoints that disregard environmental concerns. This study demonstrates how KCD Wahid plays a role in economically empowering women, achieving financial independence, and reducing dependency, which is important for improving the welfare of women and their families.
