Abstrack : This study examines the use of the concept of hilah as a tool in the modern Islamic financial system, a research method used by thematic analysis methods on literature/fatwa. The focus of the study is directed at the fatwa of the National Sharia Council of the Indonesian Ulema Council (DSN-MUI) related to the Collective Investment Contract - Sharia Asset-Collateral Securities instrument, as a form of financial engineering that aims to comply with sharia principles while meeting the needs of the contemporary capital market. This study highlights the role of hilah as a fiqh strategy to avoid the element of riba and ensure the halalness of transactions. The results of the analysis confirm that the al-hilah method is used as an adaptive legal solution to design Islamic financial products, where the DSN-MUI fatwa serves as a guideline to ensure sharia compliance as well as financial innovation that meets the needs of the modern market. This study provides an alternative and contribution in understanding how the hilah method plays a role as a legitimate financial engineering mechanism in the context of contemporary sharia economics.
