Author Guidelines
Author Guidelines of Jurnal Studi Jurnalistik
Journal of Journalism Studies provides a forum to publish original articles, review articles from contributors, and novel technology news related to Journalism studies. Research articles dealing with communications and culture are particularly welcome. The journal encompasses articles, original research reports, reviews, short communication, and scientific commentaries on Journalism studies.
All papers submitted to the journal should be written in good Bahasa Indonesia or English. Authors for whom English is not their native language are encouraged to have their papers checked before submission for grammar and clarity. The work should not have been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. The official language of the manuscript to be published in Journal of Journalism is English and Bahasa Indonesia.
The author should fill the form as detailed as possible where the star-marked form must be entered. After all form textboxes are filled, the author clicks on the Register button to proceed with the registration. Therefore, the author is brought to the online author submission interface, where the author should click on New Submission. In the Start, a New Submission section, click on Click Here to go to step one of the five-step submission process. The following are five steps in the online submission process:
- Step 1 - Starting the Submission: Select the appropriate section of the journal, i.e. Original Research Articles, Review Article, or Short Communication. Thus, the author must check on the submission checklists.
- Step 2 Uploading the Submission: To upload a manuscript to this journal, click Browse on the Upload submission file item, choose the manuscript document file to be submitted, then click the Upload button.
- Step 3: Entering Submission Metadata: Detailed author metadata should be entered, including the marked corresponding author. After that, the manuscript title and abstract must be uploaded by copying and pasting the text into the textbox, including keywords.
- Step 4: Uploading Supplementary Files: A supplementary file, including the covering/submission letter and signed copyright transfer agreement form, should be uploaded. Therefore, click the Browse button, choose the files, and then click the Upload button.
- Step 5: Confirming the Submission: In this step, the author should final check the uploaded manuscript documents. After the documents are true, click the Finish Submission button to submit the manuscript to Jurnal studi jurnalistik journal. The corresponding author or the principal contact will receive an acknowledgment by email and can view the submission's progress through the editorial process by logging in to the journal's website.
After this submission, the Authors who submitted the manuscript will receive a confirmation email. Therefore, Authors can track their submission status at any time by logging in to the online submission interface. Submission tracking includes the status of the manuscript review and editorial process.
Terms of submitting manuscript:
- Article is written originally by one or many writers in the scope of Indonesian language and English. The article contains 3500-12.000 words (including pictures and tables). The articles systematics consists of introduction, method, results and discussion, conclusion, pictures or graphic and tables.
- Manuscript is written in A4 paper with Times New Roman font styles, 12 font size, single line spacing. The margin size should be 2 cm for entire document.
- Page number is put on the right top of page.
- It is suggested the use of reference manager : MENDELEY and ZOOTERO.
- The manuscript order are title, abstract, content, and references.
The more detail information are described as follow:
Title consists of:
- Title: no more than 25 words.
- Author(s) name: is fully written without any title.
- Institution: completely stated the institution name.
- Corresponding author : email address
Abstract:
- Abstract is written both in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
- Consist no more than 300 words.
- The content is based on the problem, the main method used, the main result that answer the problem stated, and discussion that explain the results.
- Keywords (3-5 keywords)
Content:
The content of article consists of preface, method, results and discussion. The closing, acknowledgement, and references are also the part of article content.
1. Introduction
Introduction mainly contains 1) the research problem, 2) the insight and problem solving plan, 3) the research aim(s), and 4) the resume of the theoretical study. Sometimes, in this part, author stated the result that is intended to be reached by the researcher through the study.
2. Research Method
Basically, this part explains how the research is done. The main content of this part are 1) research design, 2) population and sample, 3) the technics of collecting data and instruments developing, and 4) the technics of data analysing. Any tools and materials used in the research should be mentioned specifically.
3. Results and Discussion
The results appeared in this part should be the main result. The data analysis process such as statistical calculation, hypothetical testing process are no need to be presented. Tables and chart can be used to explain the result presented verbally, and should be commented or discussed.
4. Conclusions
This part contains summary and suggestion. Summary presents the resume of the results and discussion of the article, and is based on the research aim. The suggestion can be based on practical action, new theory developing, and/or further research.
5. Acknowledgement (optional)
Acknowledgement to certain parties, such as research sponsorship, should be stated clearly and concisely.
6. References
References should contain at least 10 references from scientific journal which recently 9 years. If the subject is related to the articles that have been published in journal of Journalism Studies, please cite the article. Meanwhile, there is no publication year limitation for references from books.
Writing a bibliography uses APA style, with the following format: Last Name, First Initial and Middle Name (if any). (Publication Year). Article Title. Journal Name, Journal Volume (Issue or Number), Pages.
Writing a library list from a journal with one author :
Example: Diniati, A. (2018). Social Construction Through Intrapersonal Communication of Gay Students in Bandung City. Journal of Communication Studies, 6(2), 147-159.
Writing library lists from journals with more than one author :
Example: Diniati, A., Suryana, A., & Bajari, A. (2022). Child Laborers' Experiences Regarding Their Communication Behavior. Journal of Communication, 14(2), 322-345.

Authors with the same book quoted back, either directly, have been interspersed by other authors, or interspersed with the same author with different titles, written in the following format:
