Digital Rights and Early Childhood Education: A Legal Perspective
Abstract
Digital rights refer to the online freedoms and protections that each individual deserves in today’s rapidly digitalizing world. In this context, the importance of digital rights is increasing in early childhood education. Issues such as children's safe existence in the digital world, their rights to access digital content, and the protection of these content are essential issues that need to be addressed from a legal perspective. Digital rights management can be defined as systems that control and regulate individuals' access to digital content. Digital rights management and blockchain technology are critical in protecting digital content and maintaining copyrights. Children's rights to access digital content are essential in their education processes. Therefore, states must develop public policies protecting children's digital rights in digital transformation processes. In addition, adverse effects such as digital addiction can affect children's experiences in the digital world. Research shows that digital addiction is related to family, environment, and school. This situation highlights the role of parents and educators in protecting children’s digital rights and ensuring they have a healthy digital experience. Parents’ attitudes can directly affect children’s use of digital media; therefore, parents need to take a conscious approach.
