Abstract


Tidak dapat dipungkiri kaum muslimin dahu- lu pernah memberikan sumbangan yang sangat berarti bukan saja terhadappenyelamatan warisan khazanah ilmu pengetahuan dari kepunahannya, selain itu mereka juga telah melakukan berbagaiupaya pengembangan ter- hadap seluruh cabang ilmu pengetahuan terse- but Secara jelas, mereka telah memainkan per- anannya yang signifikan dalam proses pertum- buhan warisan intelektual dan saintifik manu- sia secara menyeluruh. Namun sungguh sangat disayangkan, dunia Islam kontemporer nampa- knya semakin tertinggal keluar dari jalur utama berbagai aktifitas perkembangan saintifik dan teknologi saat ini.
