About the Journal

Buletin Al-Turas (ISSN Print: 0853-1692 E-ISSN: 2579-5848) is a peer-reviewed and open-access journal published by Fakultas Adab and Humaniora, Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta in collaboration with ADIA (Asosiasi Dosen Ilmu-Ilmu Adab). Buletin AL-Turas provides readers with a better understanding of applied linguistics in Islamic studies through the publication of current academic articles. This semiannual journal is published in March and September.

The journal aims to provide a high-profile international forum for the critical investigation of language as a dynamic force in the construction and dissemination of Islamic knowledge and identity. By bridging applied linguistics with Islamic studies, the journal seeks to illuminate how linguistic practices negotiate authority and religious norms across traditional and modern landscapes. Our primary goal is to elevate scholarship that moves beyond descriptive analysis to offer theoretically informed insights into how language shapes the lived experience of Islam in an increasingly digital and globalized world. To achieve its mission, the journal is dedicated to the following strategic objectives:

Promoting Methodological Rigor: Publishing empirically grounded research that utilizes innovative frameworks, including critical discourse analysis, corpus linguistics, and digital humanities.

Exploring Linguistic Diversity: Documenting and analyzing sociolinguistic, psycholinguistic, and pragmatic variations within Muslim communities across varied sociocultural settings.

Examining Textual Evolution: Facilitating scholarly inquiry into the translation, interpretation, and reception of classical Islamic texts (Qur’an and Hadith) within contemporary contexts.

Investigating Digital Frontiers: Evaluating the impact of emerging technologies and AI-mediated communication on the negotiation of Islamic discourse and religious authority.

Challenging Existing Paradigms: Supporting research that offers fresh perspectives on how religious norms and linguistic ideologies intersect with modern societal realities.

Fostering Interdisciplinary Dialogue: Serving as a collaborative space where linguists and Islamic scholars can engage in meaningful exchange to advance the field of religious linguistics.
