ECOLITERACY DALAM KONTEKS PENDIDIKAN IPS

Abstract


Permasalahan lingkungan hidup menjadi salah satu permasalahan yang urgen untuk diatasi mengingat permasalahan lingkungan ini memunculkan ketimpangan keruangan. Salah satu upaya preventif untuk mengatasi ketimpangan keruangan adalah melalui pembelajaran yang menumbuhkan kesadaran akan pentingnya lingkungan hidup. Makalah ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan tentang ecoliteracy dalam konteks pendidikan IPS. Ecoliteracy menggambarkan kesadaran tentang pentingnya lingkungan hidup. Taraf ecoliteracy merupakan sebuah capaian di mana seseorang yang sudah sangat menyadari betapa pentingnya lingkungan hidup, pentingnya menjaga dan merawat bumi, ekosistem, alam sebagai tempat tinggal dan berkembangnya kehidupan. Kajian IPS melibatkan berbagai disiplin ilmu, baik di dalam maupun di luar disiplin ilmu-ilmu sosial, untuk membentuk kemampuan sosial. Salah satu kemampuan sosial berkaitan dengan kepedulian terhadap lingkungan. Guru IPS memegang peran penting untuk literasi peserta didiknya. Guru IPS yang memiliki literasi baik diharapkan mampu menanamkan literasi ekologis kepada peserta didiknya.
