Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze how social media in Indonesia influences populist political parties. The method used for this study was conducted through online research with the help of prompts aimed at participants who actively use social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The results of the study show that there is a positive relationship between social media use and mainstream political parties. Respondents who use social media more frequently still have higher levels of political participation compared to those who use social media less frequently. However, the results also indicate that only a small portion of the population uses social media as a source of political information or as a catalyst for actively participating in political campaigns. The conclusion of this study is the importance of the media in shaping public opinion and increasing citizens' awareness of safety and security issues.
