KOMUNIKASI POLITIK KAMPANYE DIGITAL PADA RUANG PUBLIK

Abstract


With the emergence of digital media and social media platforms, the speed of innovation and technology adoption in campaigns has increased rapidly. At the same time, the campaign environment and its rules continue to evolve, as platform logic, party operations, and voter partisanship reflect and create instability in many political systems. Additionally, disinformation, foreign interference in campaigns, hyper-partisan media ecosystems, and hyperactive users have all contributed to shifts in the climate of opinion. Given these developments, and building on the theoretical concept of an increasingly chaotic and disharmonious public sphere (developed by Barbara Pfetsch and Lance Bennett), this special edition expands research on policy beyond the assumption of a well-functioning political system. -tems, to better understand the erosion of institutional legitimacy and trust, and its impact on communication processes. Specific issues are addressed through two contextual approaches. The first collection of manuscripts examines how political candidates, organizations, and actors optimize their behavior in a non-harmonious political environment. The second section addresses the responses, perceptions, and consequences of a disrupted environment on the public. Finally, four integrated forum essays examine how a discordant public sphere can disrupt democratic processes, discuss the role of data-driven campaigns, and explore how limited access to data platforms affects our understanding of an unsuitable public sphere.
