Author Guidelines

Socio Historica: Journal of Islamic Social History is an academic journal published by the Faculty of Adab and Humanities of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. This journal aims to disseminate the results of studies on Islamic social history. The articles published in this journal are the result of research and literature studies conducted by researchers, academics, and observers of Islamic social history.
 
The following guidelines for prospective authors apply :
  1. The manuscript is a result of research, conceptual ideas, scientific development, and application of theory in the field of Islamic social history.

  2. The manuscript is written in Indonesian language or English.
  3. The abstract is written in Indonesian language and English.
  4. Writing the main paragraph in the manuscript using Times New Roman font, single-spaced (space 1), on A4 size paper, with a margin of 3.5 cm from the left and 3 cm from the right, top, and bottom.
  5. The manuscript should be approximately 5000-8000 words outside of References.
  6. The manuscript also includes the title, author's name, author of the work (department, university/or institution), and the email of the related author.
  7. Manuscripts must use Turabian 8th edition full note and are expected to use a reference manager such as Mendeley, Zotero, and the like.
  8. Manuscripts must be free from plagiarism. Self-check must be done prior to check-in. Plagiarism must be below 20%.
  9. Articles must include Title, Abstract (in Indonesian), Introduction Keywords, Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, and References.
  10. References should consist of all sources cited in the article. Citation using footnotes. Sources listed in footnotes must appear in References. 

Arabic Romanization should be written as follow:

Letters: ’, b, t, th, j, h, kh, d, dh, r, z, s, sh, s,d, t,z, ‘, gh, f, q, l, m, n, h, w, y. Short vowels: a, i, u. long vowels: ā, ī, ū. Diphthongs: aw, ay. Tā marbūtā: t. Article: al-.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
