Author Guidelines

Socio Historica: Journal of Islamic Social History invites authors to submit original research and literature studies (5000–8000 words, excluding references) focusing on Islamic Social and Cultural History. Submissions must be the result of research, conceptual ideas, or scientific development in the field.

Manuscript Format and Style:

  1. Language: Manuscripts are accepted in Indonesian or English. Abstracts must be provided in both languages.

  2. Length: Approximately 5000–8000 words, excluding references.

  3. Structure: The article must include: Title, Abstract (in Indonesian), Introduction, Keywords, Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, and References.

  4. Font and Spacing: Main text uses Times New Roman font, single-spaced (space 1), on A4 paper.

  5. Margins: 3.5 cm (left) and 3 cm (right, top, and bottom).

Citation and Referencing:

  1. Style: Manuscripts must use the Turabian 8th edition Full Note style.

  2. Method: Citation must be done using footnotes. All sources listed in footnotes must also appear in the final References section.

  3. Reference Manager: Authors are expected to use a reference manager such as Mendeley, Zotero, or the like.

  4. Romanization: Arabic Romanization should follow the transliteration system of the Library of Congress (LC) Guidelines.

Integrity and Ethics:

  • Manuscripts must be entirely original and not previously published, nor under consideration by any other journal.

  • Manuscripts must be free from plagiarism. Self-check must be done prior to submission, and the plagiarism score must be below 20%.

Submission Preparation Checklist

Authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.

  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.

  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

  • The manuscript text has followed the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review (author identity is removed from the file) for peer-reviewed sections of the journal.

Copyright Notice

Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:

  1. Copyright Retention: Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication.

  2. Licensing: The work is simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY-NC 4.0 International) that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgment of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.

  3. Non-Exclusive Distribution: Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in this journal.

  4. Self-Archiving (Green Open Access): Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work.
