Etika Tawazun dalam Fenomena Hustle Culture: AnalisisRelevansi Agama Islam dalam Perspektif Talcott Parsons

Abstract

The modern capitalist system has given rise to hustle culture—a phenomenon driving limitless productivity that potentially fosters the emergence of the one-dimensional man. This study addresses the relevance of Islam—as a subsystem— in maintaining social order amidst modern hustle culture through the ethics of tawazun. The research aims to analyze the hustle culture phenomenon and explain the relevance of Islamic tawazun ethics using Talcott Parsons' structural-functionalist perspective. A qualitative approach utilizing library research was employed; data were gathered from Parsons' works, prior studies, and relevant literature, then analyzed through content analysis and conceptual synthesis. The findings indicate that hustle culture represents a form of cultural dysfunction that reduces the meaning of success to a single dimension and potentially disrupts social order. The study identifies four key values of tawazun ethics—proportional productivity, spiritual-teleological awareness, moderation, and self-control—which, within the AGIL analytical framework, serve to support adaptation, goal attainment, social integration, and the maintenance of societal value patterns while simultaneously demonstrating Islam's relevance as a subsystem contributing to the maintenance of order and sustainability in modern social life.
